Living in Ipswich Set on the river Orwell, Ipswich is an old town, which took shape around the port in the 8th century, with a predominantly non-conformist Christian history, in spite of the presence of 13 medieval churches. It is the county town of Suffolk and is gradually growing beyond its current population of 135,000, while enjoying the attractions of the North Sea coast and the quiet rural inland villages of the county. It is just over an hour from London by train. The towns of Colchester, Cambridge and Norwich are all at a distance of under 2 hours by car or train, and there is a regular coach service to access London Stansted Airport, which serves many destinations in Europe and beyond. All our present and proposed properties are close to bus stops and within 20 minutes walking distance from the town centre (and some are even closer). All the facilities of a medium-sized town (gyms and pools, cinemas and theatre, shops and banks) are within easy walking distance, including the two bus stations.
